A couple was charged following a recording at the police station
A couple, Amy Laronde and her boyfriend Carlton Williams are now on $4,000 bail following their not-guilty plea to charges of disorderly conduct and abusive language preferred against them by the police.
Recently, a viral video surfaced of a confrontation between police officers and a civilian at the charge office of the Roseau Police station.
Laronde of Corona Estate and Williams of Bellvue Chopin were arrested and charged after the incident. They were granted station bail for $4,000 each to appear in court on May 9, 2023.
At their court appearance this morning, Laronde and Williams, jointly charged with disorderly conduct, pleaded not guilty.
The police allege that on May 3, 2023, the couple did conduct themselves disorderly in a public space, namely the Roseau Police Station charge office, by refusing to leave the said location and using loud, offensive language.
Laronde, who further stood charged with using abusive language, pleaded not guilty.
It is alleged, on May 3, 2023, at the Roseau Police Station charge office, she did make use of specific offensive language to Judy Anslem by saying to her, "bitch you assaulted me; this bitch is assaulting me."
The prosecution did not object to continuing their bail following their not-guilty pleas. Accordingly, the court examined the couple's surety. As a result, both were released on $4,000 bail and ordered to return to court on September 12, 2023, for the start of their trial.
Attorney-at-law Wayne Norde represents them.
