Double Standards Again

2016 was a year of real controversy. No need to mention them except for the topic of the new laws protecting children and even adults from sexual harassment and violence.

Carnival is just around the corner and I have been checking the costumes advertised on the business windows.

My observations: All the ladies are under-dressed especially the breasts and bums; All the men's bums are properly covered; Even some of the ones for teenagers are also not appropriate.

My point here is this: when we want to protect our people from all the bad, negative stories we read and hear about in our local papers and radio shows, how can we do this protecting, when we condone the over exposure of our God given gifts on the two days of Carnival and hope that things will change overnight. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and thus should be treated rightly so.

So cover up ladies and enjoy carnival — you don't have to be practically naked, fully drunk or act the fool to enjoy Carnival. Val Rose
