Flaming Flamboyant light up Dominica's landscape
Aug. 4, 2015
Nowadays Dominica's hills and valleys and parks are alive with the most beautiful tree in the world-the extraordinary Flamboyant.
The flame-like red and yellow flowers continue to light up the abundant greenery like giant flower arrangements.
The Flamboyant is also known as the Flame Tree or Royal Poinciana; it is a member of the bean family-Leguminosae; the flowers develop into a giant pod.
Flamboyant trees seem to realize that they are indeed strikingly beautiful- they spread their crowns like proud peacocks spread their wings.
If flowers are nature's smile, the Flamboyant is its laughter.
Enjoy their gay abandon as we show in the gallery on this site.
