Measles confusion

Confusion. That is one way to keep people guessing. Confusion. That is one way to keep people under control. Because, with confusion comes doubt and with doubt there is fear…and fear is how to control another.

It seems a prime example of this scenario is the recent measles outbreak at Disneyland on Jan 14, 2015. The latest information seems quite limited about the 51 lab-confirmed cases of measles. According to the CDC "no source case for the outbreak has been identified. " They also have confirmed that 12 percent of the Disneyland measles cases were vaccinated. Some of the children had at least two doses of MMR vaccine.

What? Wait a minute. Aren't vaccines supposed to protect a person from getting illness? And if a child has two doses aren't they doubly protected? It's called herd immunity. Something isn't making sense here. The CDC goes on to warn "during outbreaks, measles vaccine is administered to help control the outbreak and in the situations, vaccine reactions may be mistakenly classified as measles cases. A small proportion of measles vaccine recipients experience rash and fever 10 -14 days following vaccination". Yes MMR vaccine can cause vaccine strain measles infection that looks like measles. Hmmm?

Also according to Dr. James Cherry, a prominent UCLA pediatrician and infectious disease expert, measles vaccine acquired herd immunity is already in effect with a measles vaccination rate of more than 90%. Even the CDC declared measles eradicated from the U.S in 2000. But clearly measles virus has not been eradicated from the U.S., just like it hasn't been from any other country. What's more disturbing is that emerging scientific evidence suggests it never will be- -no matter how many doses of MMR vaccine are mandated for every man ,woman and child in the world!

Then there is the second part of this CONFUSION in the form of blaming parents making informed choices who don't vaccinate their children. They are being called dumb, selfish, irresponsible, ignorant, liars, and witches. Whoa! See what fear does? It can start wars. The "powers- that- be" know this is the case …so stirring the pot with blame is just what it takes to set off mental and physical riots. The media jumps on the band wagon and the flames are fueled even higher. Then law makers and big pharmacies come in on the pretext of "caring" for the general public and push their agenda to take away more rights to informed consent. What a circus. What a sad comment on human intelligence.

Perhaps, public health officials would like the media and public to focus on this handful of cases at Disneyland and not focus on the fact that millions of Americans have gotten flu shots that don't work. The pertussis vaccine is failing too as there has been a huge increase of whooping cough among children who have been vaccinated. And again Dr. Cherry wrote in 2013, "neither B. pertussis or pertussis vaccination elicit long lasting immunity. Infection and illness repeatedly occur in all ages throughout life." So much for the myth of pertussis vaccine herd immunity !

So I ask each reader to research deeply these issues that are calling to question some sacred "herd thinking". It's your health. Your family. Your choice .
