Ti-Ling In Off-Seasons & Friendlies (Ctd): Marcellus first played with Old Court in DABA's 1986/87 Off-Season League, netting a respectable 23 Pts vs Clickers in that competition. His other Off-Season stints were with Shell in the Fond Colé Basketball League in 1986, and then with Steber Street in the Pottersville Basketball Leagues in 1987 and 1988.

Ti-Ling, while working with DBS Radio during the 1990s also extended his energies to playing in Friendlies with DBS Dream Team, e.g. at Soufriere in 1997, and then helped Dream Team defeat Pioneers in the pre-launch of the 1997/98 DABA Basketball Season.

Coach, Mr. Lee: Marcellus also made his contribution towards the development of basketball in Dominica in the area of coaching, having successfully coached at the school, club and national levels.

Ti-Ling performed his first coaching stint when he co-coached and simultaneously played with J.K. Eagles from 1983 through 1987. That team's achievements were presented earlier.

His next stint with the clip-board was directing Berger Paints Hoyas (Senior) over the period 1989 through 1995, and under his direction Hoyas captured the 1991 DABA Division I League Championship.

More importantly, Marcellus served as Assistant Coach to the Dominica Senior National Team in 1989, and as the team's Head Coach for five seasons (1992 through 1996). During Lee's stint as the man in charge Dominica's National Team participated in the 1996 CARICOM Basketball Championships in Trinidad, the 1994 OECS Basketball Championships in Dominica, and the 1993 and 1994 Windward Islands Basketball Tournaments in Dominica and St. Lucia respectively. Dominica won the OECS Championship in 1994 and back-to-back Windwards Championships in 1993 and 1994.

Ti-Ling also coached Dominica's basketball team in the Windward Islands Inter-Schools Games over the period 1989-1998.

Three of the players whom Marcellus coached went on to secure athletic scholarships to study and play on college basketball teams in the United States.

In 1987 Eusebe 'Clancy' Roberts, a member of the Dominica National Team and with whom Ti-Ling had also played and coached while on Eagles, received a 4-year scholarship to attend and play with Black Hills State College in South Dakota. Clancy was one of four newcomers on the Yellow Jackets for the 1987/88 season, helping them win 20 games by the end of the calendar year.

The other players were Otis George and Brian Zamore. He had coached both players while they played with the Dominica Grammar School team in the Sports Division Under-20 Basketball League, and subsequently as members of Dominica's Team at the 1991 Windward Islands Inter-Schools Games.

Otis went on to play with a college team in Louisville, Kentucky while Brian played with Florida A & M University Rattlers.

Ti-Ling also coached in Nevis, directing Cherry Gardens to capture the 2010 basketball league championship.

Marcellus The Referee: Lee, with his experience and knowledge of the game and its laws, also served as a basketball referee, officiating at senior national, off-season and school matches. He was a member of the Dominica Basketball Officials Association while they were in existence.

Mr. Lee The Administrator: In addition to playing, coaching and officiating, Marcellus has also contributed to basketball development in the area of administration, at the national level.

He functioned in three positions during two stints on the Executive of the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association. Firstly, he served as Secretary in 1983, then Assistant Secretary/Treasurer in 1992, and subsequently Treasurer (1993-1994).

It is important to note that during his second stint on DABA's Executive, Marcellus was instrumental in drawing up on behalf of the Association a 5-season sponsorship agreement with Coca-Cola (through local agents Josephine Gabriel & Co.) for the period 1993-1997.

Other Items in His Bag: In addition to his basketball journey, Marcellus Lee also served as the Physical Education Teacher at his alma mater, the Dominica Grammar School.

The former Sports Reporter at DBS Radio subsequently migrated to Nevis some years ago and currently serves as News Editor with Voice of Nevis (VON) Radio.

Remarks: Marcellus Lee may not be a 'Plastic', a 'Robo', a 'Kiwi' or a Mickey –four other big names in Dominica's basketball. However, during his basketball career he also contributed significantly to the development of the sport on Dominica. He played (national league, national team, off-season leagues, friendlies); served as coach (Dominica national team; his clubs, and Dominica's 'Inter-Schools' Team), and was an administrator in important positions on the Executive of the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association.
