Dominica removes mask mandate
Roseau, Dominica:
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit today announced that his cabinet has decided to remove the mask mandate that the country instituted in the fight against COVID-19.
"So, there is no more a legal requirement for anyone in Dominica to wear a mask," Skerrit said. "We have taken that decision recognizing the trends with the numbers."
Skerrit said people are free to wear masks if they so wish.
A few months ago Dr. Irving McIntyre, the health minister, said his government was considering the removal of the mask mandate but the mandate remained especially for closed spaces.
Cabinet also recently removed pre-arrival testing for unvaccinated travelers, the removal of testing on arrival for symptomatic travelers; including removal of pre-arrival testing for unvaccinated travelers, and removal of testing on arrival for symptomatic travelers.
