"The coolest person I know"-Sharri Zamore
Eulogy of Urban Francis Zamore: 5th June 1950 to 14th October 2021
I am heartbroken at the loss of my little brother but carry lasting memories of him with me.
Urban entered this world on Sunday 5th June 1950 as the 7th of 10 wonderful gifts from the union of Mr. Johnis and Mrs. Irene Zamore.
Growing up, Urban, like other typical young boys, went through all the relevant developmental stages in the village. He enjoyed the games of the era, like playing marbles, deux pas with tops, pitch and pine with cashew nuts, taking milia twist with tops, hunting birds with catapault and laglee. He was good at all the childhood games.
I remember when we played a cricket match at Lot Bar in Colihaut on opposing teams. I was at the wicket batting, while he was the bowler.
Call#1 I square-cut him for 4 runs into the river, needless to say, he was not smiling.
Call#2 He bowled out my centre stumps completely- you should have seen the way he was jumping at that feat.
The Zamore's love cricket and Urban loved to win.
Urban was educated at the Colihaut Elementary school and then the Technical Vocational Centre of Dominica Grammar school. He went on to attend the Jamaica School of Agriculture and the farm management section of the University of the West Indies at St. Augustine Trinidad. He also completed numerous in-service training classes in the Caribbean and India.
Urban was a qualified agriculturist, whose opinions were well respected by local and regional senior agricultural technicians and academics.
He was employed by the Ministry of Agriculture for all his working life, retiring from the service on Sunday 5th June 2005 as Agricultural Assistant- Eastern District.
Urban was the father of Francis Zamore (Franco) the apple of his eye who blessed him with two granddaughters.
Urban was a positive family man, willing to assist whenever situations arose for both family and friends.
He was an avid cricketer and was once able to be part of the Windward Islands team.
Urban was also a passionate domino player and excelled at the game. Urban left this earth on Thursday 14th October 2021 in Guyana, whilst seeking to improve his health.
May his soul rest in blessed peace.
And in his own words "Thank you very much"
