West Indies fight back in 2nd Test

ST GEORGE'S, Grenada – Kraigg Brathwaite reached his fourth Test century late on the fourth day of the second Test match to lead an excellent fightback against England at the Grenada National Stadium, on Friday.

The solid right-handed opener closed on 101 not out off 230 balls with 11 fours as the West Indies closed the penultimate day on 202-2 in the second innings. With one day to go, the homeside lead by 37 runs with eight wickets in hand.

Brathwaite was well supported by left-hander Darren Bravo, who made a polished 69 off 147 balls with 12 boundaries in a second-wicket stand of 142.

Later Marlon Samuels (22 not out) joined Brathwaite and they have so far added 57 runs for the third wicket.

For the 22-year-old Brathwaite it was his fourth Test century in the last nine matches since he made his maiden ton against New Zealand in Trinidad in June 2014, and also his fifth score over 50 in seven first-class matches this year.

Earlier in the day leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo ended with 4-177 to mark a successful return to international cricket.
